Papke 1 | Acrylic and Latex on Wood...
Here is the first of the What Remains series as painted pieces. Since the Kickstarter project didn't fund I am going to do two pieces of each of my professor's eraser marks, however instead of printing the photos in a large format, I will be interpreting the images and hand painting them. There will be a total of six pieces.

Pencil Sketches Digitized
Art tools are so amazing! I started these three images with a no. 2 pencil on paper. I then photographed them and imported them to my iPad. Using various software and my stylus, I was able to convert them into these beautiful full color sketches. I will be doing large format pieces based on these images.

What Remains... 2nd Video
This is a second video clip of the latest installment of the "What Remains" series. It is a McClure. I was speaking with Michael McClure and he told me that since we began this project he is conscious of the patterns that he is leaving. Several of my classmates were excited about the project. One student, named Nicole, said it was "sublime", which is pretty cool.
Here's a link to my project page. I sure would appreciate your support.

What Remains... Branlund
I am doing a series study of three of my professors. Over the semester I have noticed that each of them has a distinct pattern that they use when erasing the chalkboard at the end of their lecture. At the end of class I am using their stroke pattern to create abstract works with chalk, then I photograph the work and erase it. I will be doing this through the rest of the semester and printing them to show. This is the first of the series Branlund

Sketch for New Work
Launching a couple of new concept art. This is a take on a sketching style that I have employed most of my life. I am going to develop these pieces into large format works that include gold leaf. Pretty excited about this.

Carving Out A Purpose...
Our new venue is coming along great. In fact, several of us just stood around the last time we met to work on the building because there wasn't that much left to do.
As we were developing the interior design we sectioned off the pre-existing entry hallway into a small vestibule. This left us with a tremendous room at the front of our coffee bar. It has a lot of class. We were kicking around some ideas as to what we should do for doors when it was jokingly suggested that we make our own.
Something about that really stuck with me so I spoke with a fellow artist and craftsmen, Ben Meydam, who is a member of our group and we decided that we would indeed make a set of doors. Our grand scheme was to hand carve the Tapestry logo into the front of a gothic style door.
The process was great. In preparation we took 1" x 4" planks of unfinished wood, distressed them and mounted them to a 3/4" sheet of plywood on both sides. Then we drew off the logo and carved it with hammer and chisel. We finished it and painted the lions on the interior of the doors. The finish size of the doors are 3' x 8' each. This spans a 6' x 8' entry way.
I enjoyed this project immensely and am going to pursue this type of work. It seemed like one of those moments where "purpose" was being fulfilled. If you or someone or a company you know would like to add character to your space, please contact me at 618.971.0935. We can discuss the project.
This would be a great Christmas present for anyone who has invested in creating a "man cave" or to accent a high end conference area.

Painful Art Sale Continues! (Please Read)
I am thankful that Icarus sold within a couple of hours of the post yesterday. I am still needing to generate some funds and so I am letting go of two more pieces. Honestly, if I come up with the funds before these sell, I will not continue to sell them at this price. Thanks for your patronage!
Baked Goods.I was working part time for the St. Louis Bread Co. and was inspired to create "Baked Goods". It was made using reclaimed Styrofoam from the same construction site in Collinsville, IL that I used for several other works. Using a heat knife I carved the deign into the foam and finished it with concrete and acrylic. It is 2" x 22.75" x 35.25". I have it listed at $200, but will sell it for $75.
Vintage is a nod to the endurance of patriotism. This piece is acrylic and concrete on reclaimed Styrofoam from the same construction site as above. I used concrete and Styrofoam exclusivley for six months during a series I called "A Million Years in 180 Days." The piece is 2" x 60" x 24". I have it listed at $275, but will let it go for $125.I hate to sell this work so inexpensively for so many reasons, but I would rather it hang in someone else's house and be able to meet my obligations, than hang on to it. Please contact me by email or phone if you are interested in either of these pieces. armando@heredia.ws or 618.971.0935. Thank you.

Icarus for Sale (Please Read)
Icarus is by far one of my most dramatic pieces from the "A Million Years in 180 Days" reclamation series. This relief sculpture was made using a large piece of reclaimed construction-grade Styrofoam that I salvaged from a construction site in Collinsville, IL.
The subject matter is from the fall of Icarus, a greek legend about the danger of pride. The piece will endure and will appreciate in value.
Principle tells me that I should price this piece at $1,500 and not budge, but reality and the monthly rent payment demand that I sell the piece. I will cry when I sell it, but I need $200 for rent and gas money for a show this weekend in Louisville, so I am letting it go for $300.
Icarus is 2" x 24" x 78" and is finished with concrete, acrylic and oils.
If you are interested in seeing the piece or purchasing it, please contact me at 618.971.0935 or armando@heredia.ws.
